Swedish Nuclear Society
Swedish Nuclear Society or Sveriges Kärntekniska Sällskap (SKS) is a non-profit organisation for everyone and anyone who is interested in nuclear power and technology. Its many hundred members from all over Sweden often have impressive and varied experiences from working with nuclear power and are happy to share them with others. The main requirement to become a member is interest in nuclear power and technology, no recommendation letters or proof of excellence is required.
SKS provides particular value for students interested in a nuclear career due to the seminars, conferences and study visits that are continuously organized. Membership applications are submitted directly to SKS and the membership fee is waived for students. Most events are either free-of-charge for members or have a very low cover fee.
Acquiring SKS membership and attending its events is probably the easiest and low-cost way for any student to learn about the daily life of nuclear power in Sweden and abroad, and meet the people who run in.
